Information on Notary Authentication, Apostilles and Birth, Death and Marriage Certificate Authentication

Authentications:
If you need an authentication of a notary public or city official who is qualified in Westchester County, you must bring in the document with the original notary stamp and signature on it to the Office of the Westchester County Clerk.  Copies cannot be authenticated.  Please be advised that under New York State law, records to verify notary qualification are kept for only 6 years by our office.  A document bearing an acknowledgement older than six years cannot be authenticated.  The fee for each authentication is $3.00 and should be made payable to the "Westchester County Clerk".  If you are submitting the document by mail, send it to The Office of the Westchester County Clerk, 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Attn: Notary Department, Room 330, White Plains, NY 10601.  Please be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope. 

Apostilles:
If, in addition to the County Clerk's authentication, you need an apostille, you must contact the Department of State for information.  Mail in Requests can be sent to the Albany location at:

Authentication of a Birth, Marriage or Death Certificate:
If you need an authentication of a birth, death or marriage certificate issued by a local clerk in Westchester County, you must bring in a certified copy of the document which has been issued within the last year.  Copies cannot be authenticated.  The fee for each authentication is $3.00 and should be made payable to the "Westchester County Clerk".  If you are submitting the document by mail, send it to The Office of the Westchester County Clerk, 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Attn:  Notary Department, Room 330, White Plains, NY 10601.  Please be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
