Leadership on Historic Legislation Key to Reappointment to Legislation and eRecording Committees

WHITE PLAINS, NY: Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni was reappointed co-chair of the Legislation and eRecording Committees of the New York State Association of County Clerks (NYSACC).   In 2011, as co-chair, Idoni led the campaign that resulted in passage of groundbreaking electronic filing legislation in New York State.  The reappointments were made by the President of NYSACC, Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato and confirmed by the members of the association at the annual legislative conference held in Albany, February 5-7, 2012.

“It is indeed an honor to receive the endorsement of my fellow county clerks to continue my service as co-chair of these key committees that helped lead the way to ensure the passage of eRecording legislation in New York State,” stated Idoni.   Largely due to his leadership and unyielding efforts to gather legislative support and the eventual passage of the law, Idoni will return as co-chair of the Legislation Committee with Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall and continue to monitor, assess and promote positions on legislation that impact county clerks across New York State.

For the fourth year in a row, Clerk Idoni will also return as co-chair of the organization’s eRecording Committee.  With the new legislation signed into law by Governor Cuomo last fall, Idoni was asked by his colleagues to continue to lead this committee with co-chair New York City Register Annette Hill to monitor the process during the development and enactment of new statewide standards.

”With hard work and strong advocacy, NYSACC was instrumental in the passage of legislation which finally brings electronic recording of land records to New York State,” stated Idoni about the law that is projected to improve efficiency, productivity and handling of large volumes of paper documents as well as save New York taxpayers millions of dollars each year.  “However,” cautions Idoni, “the passage of the law is only the first step. NYSACC and specifically the Legislation and eRecording Committees will maintain an active role in monitoring the process of ensuring that appropriate standards are enacted for the successful implementation of the benefits of this historic legislation in New York State.”
