Recognized for success in bringing eRecording to NYS

WHITE PLAINS, NY:  Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni was honored on June 6, 2012 by his fellow county clerks at the New York State Association of County Clerks (NYSACC) conference with their Annual Achievement Award. The award was given to Idoni in recognition of his contributions and leadership in bringing electronic recording to New York State in 2011. This is the second time that Idoni has received recognition from his fellow county clerks with the association’s Annual Achievement Award.

“It is truly an honor to receive this recognition from my fellow County Clerks throughout New York State,” stated Idoni. “We began this quest to bring electronic recording to New York State in 2009 and our diligence and commitment led to the passage of statewide legislation in 2011.  Our work is far from over, as we will now make sure that appropriate standards are enacted so that we can effectively transition to electronic recording and begin to capture benefits including millions of dollars in savings.”

As co-chair of NYSACC’s eRecording Committee, Idoni led the successful development of legislation that authorizes electronic filing of land records, such as deeds and mortgages, in New York State.  This legislation, passed by both the New York State Assembly and Senate was signed into law last fall by Governor Andrew Cuomo.  The passage of this historic legislation eliminates New York’s distinction as the last state to legalize electronic recording and will facilitate millions of dollars in savings for taxpayers as well as the business community. Idoni was asked by his colleagues earlier this year to continue to lead this committee for a fourth year in a row with co-chair New York City Register Annette Hill as new statewide standards are developed and enacted.

Idoni also serves as co-chair of the NYSACC Legislation Committee along with Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall.  This important committee assesses, monitors, and takes positions on legislation impacting their fellow county clerks.
