All maps filed in the Office of the Westchester County Clerk must meet the following requirements:

1. All maps must be clear, not crowded(room is needed for two county stamps) and reproducible;

2. All maps must be in black and white. No shading, no color;

3. All signatures must be in black permanent ink, not ballpoint pen;

4. All signatures and seals must be original;

5. No pencil or paste ups;

6. All maps must have a title and location;

7. All maps must have date map was drafted;

8. Each sheet must be no larger than 36” x 48” and no smaller than 8 ½” x 11”;

9. All maps must have tax designation reference - section block and lot or tax ID;

10. All maps must have the Westchester County sheet and block number. This can be found in the blue book or online at wro.westchesterclerk.com on the maps tab, under resource maps tab, choose County Block Index Maps;

11. All maps must have a location map. This must clearly show site with surrounding streets; and

12. All maps must be on linen or mylar.

The County has the authority to reject maps that are not legible for scanning as per §333b of the Real Property Law.

For subdivisions/re-subdivisions/amended subdivisions
In addition to complying with the Requirements for All Maps set forth above, the subdivision map being submitted for filing must contain:

1. the original signature, original seal and certification of the surveyor;

2. the applicable Planning Board’s signature and date of approval which must be within 62 days of filing;

3. the original signature and certification of the Health Department, which must be within one year of filing;

4. the signature of the property owner;

5. the map must contain or be accompanied by an original signed and dated statement by the local Receiver of Taxes which indicates that all taxes on the property have been paid in full, which refers specifically to the property by section, block and lot, and which is dated after the date of the Planning Board signature and within 45 days of filing; and

6. the map must be accompanied by an original signed and dated title or abstract company letter which indicates that all taxes have been paid in full, which refers specifically to the property by section, block and lot, which is dated after the date of the Planning Board signature, but within 45 days.

For floor plans
In addition to complying with the Requirements for All Maps, a floor plan being submitted for filing must contain:

1. the original signature, original seal and certification of the architect;

2. the original signature and certification of the local Tax Assessor; and

3. the original signature and certification of the sponsor or owner.

For site (location) plans and individual surveys (this does not pertain to subdivisions of a condominium property):
In addition to complying with Requirements for All Maps, a site plan or individual survey being submitted for filing must contain:

1. the original signature, original seal and certification of the surveyor; and

2. the original signature and certification of the property owner.

For easements
In addition to complying with Requirements for All Maps, a site plan or individual survey being submitted for filing must contain:

1. the original signature, original seal and certification of the surveyor; and

2. the original signature of the property owner.

Condemned property acquisition map
In addition to complying with Requirements for All Maps, a condemned property acquisition map must be for one parcel only and must contain:

1. the original signature, original seal and certification of the surveyor; and

2. the original signature of the property owner.

To locate maps
To locate a map, visit the Land Records Division of the Office of the Westchester County Clerk which is located at 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in White Plains between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays.

You may also wish to review maps other than subdivision maps on file with the Westchester County Planning Department or the Westchester County Archives.

Map fees
Fees for filing a map or obtaining a copy of a map are as follows:

  • To file a map (per sheet), $10.00 per sheet
  • Large map copy (36 x 60 to scale), $9.00
  • Self-service copy in office (8 ½ x 11), $2.00
  • Self-service copy in office (11 x 17), $4.00
  • Certification fee, $5.00
