Efficiency and Savings Result from 24-Hour Online Access to Millions of Documents

June 23, 2009

WHITE PLAINS, NY: Protecting the environment and saving tax dollars are two primary objectives in Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni’s commitment to implementing e-initiative projects.  Recognizing that the proliferation of paper is harmful to our environment, the county clerk’s office has steadily decreased the use of traditional paper filings with more ways to gain access to documents online.

“As a result of implementing new e-initiatives and giving Westchester residents more options for access to records electronically, we’ve created a system that is more green, efficient, streamlined and cost contained,” said Idoni.  County Clerk Idoni has remained diligent in his efforts to improve service through technology and since taking office, has launched the following e-initiatives

  • eWarrants – The e-filing of New York State Tax Warrants
  • Increased Access to Online Records through Daily Subscription Option
  • Added Online Maps to Online Records Inventory
  • eFiling of Tax Certiorari Proceedings
  • eFiling of Uniform Commercial Code Statements (UCCs)
  • eLiens – Partnered with Internal Revenue Service to test eLiens concept

These e-initiatives are part of a major effort by Idoni’s office to increase access to any number of online documents that Westchester residents can obtain from the comfort of their home or office 24 hours a day.  “Researching the history of your property or obtaining a copy of a legal filing are among the documents and records that users can easily get access to online” said Idoni.  For a small daily user fee of $20.00 users can access millions of documents online by visiting the county clerk website www.westchesterclerk.com.   It’s important to note that the cost of developing this option is borne by the users of the system rather than the general taxpayer.

Stay tuned as Idoni’s office will soon launch a number of new e-initiatives which will bring the clerk’s office even further into the 21st century.  “Going green, one piece of paper at a time is not only good for the environment, but will increase accuracy and efficiency for both our customers and our staff,” concluded Idoni.
