The Westchester County Clerk’s Office maintains a Dropbox for the delivery of hardcopy documents to the Clerk’s Office, which is checked several times throughout the business day. It is located in the lobby of the Courthouse at 111 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in White Plains.
The Land Records Division of the Office of the Westchester County Clerk records all documents pertaining to real property transactions occurring in the County of Westchester. The Land Records Division also processes New York State Mortgage Tax, New York State Transfer Gains Tax, Federal Tax liens and is home to our Map Division.

- Search Property Records
The Office of the Westchester County Clerk is home to millions of land and legal records, many of which can be accessed online from your home or office. You may view land records including deeds going back to 1680 and mortgages recorded as far back as 1950. - Electronic Recording
The Office of the Westchester County Clerk accepts all land records documents electronically. Documents can be submitted directly to our office by using the PREP System or via the portal of key national electronic recording facilitators. - Record a Deed
Deeds should be recorded in the Office of the County Clerk of the county in which the real property being transferred is located. When recording a deed, it is your responsibility to take the proper steps to ensure that the document meets all of the legal requirements for recording. - Record a Mortgage
Mortgages should be recorded in the Office of the County Clerk of the county in which the real property being mortgaged is located. When recording a mortgage, it is your lender's responsibility to take the proper steps to ensure that the document meets all of the legal requirements for recording. - Land Records Fees
We offer multiple methods to pay the fees and taxes due upon recording, including check, money order, credit card (fees only) or ACH direct payments. - Mortgage Satisfactions
Satisfactions of Mortgage should be recorded in the Office of the County Clerk of the county in which the mortgage has been recorded. When recording a Satisfaction/Discharge/ Release of Mortgage, it is the responsibility of the last holder of the mortgage on record to execute a Satisfaction/Discharge/Release of Mortgage document and to ensure that the document meets all of the legal requirements for recording. - Filed Maps
Subdivision maps are filed in the Office of the County Clerk. - Certified Copies
The Office of the Westchester County Clerk returns original documents once they have been recorded, scanned and digitally archived by our office. If you cannot locate your original document, our office can provide you with a certified copy which has the same validity as your original document. - Land Records Forms
Documents submitted to our office for recording must have cover pages created using the Westchester County Clerk's Property Records Electronic Portal (PREP) System. In addition, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Combined Real Estate Transfer Tax Returns (TP-584s) and/or Real Property Transfer Reports (RP-5217s) must be created using PREP. - Land Records Resources
- Sales Prices
We do not keep a listing of the amounts paid for properties. However, that information can often be determined by reviewing the deed for a property. - Property Surveys
Surveys are not usually filed in the Office of the Westchester County Clerk. While it is possible that a survey could have been recorded in our office, we recommend that you begin your search by checking with the local building department in the municipality in which the property is located. - Local Clerks
