Government - Fast and Paperless
June 2, 2008: It’s fast, it’s convenient, it’s paperless and it’s available in Westchester County. The Office of the Westchester County Clerk, which handled over four million pieces of paper last year, just launched its second E-Filing initiative of 2008. As of Monday, June 2nd, customers can E-File the most common Uniform Commercial Code statements, known as UCCs. This initiative is another in a series intended to vastly reduce the amount of paper that comes into the office, saving time and tax dollars for County residents.
E-Filing offers customers many benefits. UCCs can be E-Filed at any hour of the day, even when the Office of the Westchester County Clerk is closed. And customers can E-File from any location with an internet connection. Fees can be paid on-line with a credit card. Customers receive e-mail notice of filing. The system is easy to learn and simple to use. There is no fee for the use of the system, though the statutory processing fees must still be paid.
“The County Clerk’s Office is a shining example of Westchester County’s leadership in the area of technology,” stated Westchester County Clerk Idoni, who acknowledged key support from the county’s Department of Information Technology in this project.
The Westchester County Clerk’s UCC E-Filing system permits the filing of initial Uniform Commercial Code, or UCC-1 statements, as well as UCC-3 Amendments, electronically. The Office of the Westchester County Clerk is located at 110 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in White Plains and is open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays.
